Description

Live In Couple 

required to run a large 6 bedroom house, 3 cottages, pool, and outbuildings.  There are  3 teenage boys and 4 dogs so you must be a dog lover for this role. An active, fit and motivated couple required to look after a London based family's residence  Nr. Taunton, Somerset. This is a hands on role.

The Housekeeper position 

Duties include:

Competent cooking skills – British food as well as international

Online and local food shopping

Be able to assist with preparing (and sometimes cooking) for large groups on special occasions

Cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner when family are in residence

Cleaning to a high lever throughout

Taking care of wardrobes 

Shopping and errand-running

Table setting and food and drink service

Greeting and serving guests

Wine cellar management

Caring for delicate art and special finishes in house

Polishing and caring for silverware, china, antiques and other specialist items

Managing heat system

Liaising with contactors and tradesman

Changing lightbulbs as needed.

Media management – Sky, Netflix, Amazon, etc.

Driving for the family when needed.

Using fire and security systems

Maintaining and taking care of household equipment (vacuum cleaner, washing machine and other domestic tools)

Using security CCTV/Intercom security system.

Organizing and taking care of all laundry throughout house

Attention to detail on table and display

Take care of all linen and laundry – attention to detail on presenting linen in bedrooms and bathrooms.

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of grounds surrounding family home.

The Groundsman / Maintenance position

The successful post-holder will be a confident driver, must have experience (and the relevant certification) for working with chainsaws - and be familiar with other agricultural machinery.

Day-to-day responsibilities will have a strong emphasis on gardening, repairs and maintenance duties (“handyman” skills essential). This job will be an “outside” role.

Duties include:
LABOURING

Clearing general debris and other materials to maintain a clear, functional work space

Organizing work spaces to optimize efficiency

Lifting and operating heavy equipment

CLEANING

Cleaning entrances and pool side

Washing and polishing prestige cars

Removing dirt on walkways, pavements and driveways

Ability to use pressure washer systems 

Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and usable by all ( by way of daily checks to include clearing litter / rubbish from and surrounding the property )

Refuse / bins taken to the front gate as per local councils schedule.

GARDENING

Operation and good working knowledge of garden machinery 

Watering all flowers, plants (and trees if advised) on the grounds

Weeding, trimming, and mulching plants, hedgerows and trees using specific gardening tools

Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as directed

Taking initiative with new plants, flowers and trees

Mowing lawns around the house to a high standard


DAILY CHECKS

Check on the welfare and care of animals 

Daily checks of plant rooms

Taking care of security for the estate and CCTV / intercom security systems and fire systems

Keeping detailed inventory of tools and supplies – reporting when stocks need to be reordered.

Make sure Risk Assessments are reviewed regularly, and action points addressed accordingly.

Clear, daily direct communication with the family PA to report any issues with the garden or house - and providing regular updates.

Pool, pool cleaning and maintenance.

Storing and care of garden and pool furniture.

Looking after the families 4 dogs, who live at the property. Walking, vet appointments, feeding and overall care.

Oil deliveries

Logs store  - keeping sufficient logs stock / chopping wood

Mouse traps in house set emptied and replaced in main house daily 

Wood replenished by fireplaces and charcoal emptied

Bins emptied new bin liners replenished. 

Working Day/Hours: Monday to Friday with occasional weekends when the family are in residence which is usually once a month and in the school holidays.  45 Hours a week.

Accommodation: Newly renovated one bedroom cottage (sorry no pets or dependants)

Salary: £85K to £90K gross per annum
