- POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED - Experienced Chef & House Manager / Head Housekeeper Couple required for beautiful location near Chichester. This is a role in a 9-bedroom residence for an indoor couple with excellent experience skills. There are only two Principals, however adult children with grandchildren as well as weekend guests visit on occasion. There are two part-time housemaids to help with cleaning duties. There are gardeners that who take care of the grounds. This is a main residence and the Principals entertain occasionally on weekends, so time-off will be during the week. There is, at present, one Jack Russell dog are three small dogs in the house and so it is essential that you are dog lovers. Walking and feeding the dogs will form part of the role. There will be a car provided while on duty. The roles are split as follows:
Head Housekeeper: You will have excellent teamwork skills and will work alongside and supervise the two housemaids. You will have excellent laundry skills and be accustomed to caring for fine fabrics and garments. Other skills will include flower arranging and the care of antiques and high-end finishes. You should be able to deal with deliveries, maintenance issues and, in the Principles’ absence, with any outside contractors. You will have an eye for detail and high standards with good energy levels. You will need to be on-hand to assist when the Principals entertain. You should have silver service skills. For dining room parties and other events, outside staff will be hired on an ad hoc basis.
Chef & House Manager: You will be a modern Chef as the Principals enjoy a light and fresh approach to food with a varied repertoire. You will be comfortable accommodating a vegetarian diet as well as gluten and sugar free options. There is a kitchen garden that provides most produces throughout the seasons. The Principals enjoy entertaining and you will create menus and cater for small casual lunch/dinner parties, occasionally for larger lunch/dinner parties (9-18 people) in the dining room. Other duties will include grocery and household supply shopping, errand running, some indoor maintenance work, attendance to the Principles’ cars and clearing and laying of fireplaces.
Days of work: Thursday to Monday
Hours of work: 8am – approx. 8pm with an approx. 4-hr break in the afternoon
Accommodation: A beautiful self-contained one bedroom cottage, separate from the main residence within 2-min. walking distance.
Salary: Starting at £1,100 net per week.
